Tried again in 2015 and I have to say, improvement. They figured out the crust and the sauce is not half bad. I'd say definitely worth a try

Surprisingly excellent pizza only a short distance from the beach. I had the Margarita pizza and it was delicious. The service was very good - friendly, attentive and prompt. Would definitely recommend for lunch or a quick bite for dinner.

Meh. It's the only pizza place here now and the pizza was uninspiring. Decent prices. Pleasant staff. But the flavor of the pizza is underwhelming. Wouldn't recommend.

This place is absolutely awesome! We've ordered take out and sat inside there and both times the food was amazing. The staff was very friendly and the food came out quick, not to mention the prices weren't bad at all. We will def be going back every year we go back to york beach!

Sigh this is hard. I like their food, in fact I like it very much, it's just... I feel like someone has shaken me down, every time I go here. The Mediterranean salad in a bread bowl is yummy, just not $13 worth of yummy. Most of the salad consisted of a head of lettuce. There was some very fresh feta, a handful of olives and maybe an 1/8 of an onion too, but that's it. The dressing was quite zesty and flavorful, but I felt cheated. I left with the distinct feeling that I was the victim of "tourist prices." Anywhere outside of touristville, this salad would have commanded no more than $8. The pizza here is also good, but same problem. I particularly recommend the "Grandma Sicilian Style" pizza. Fresh mozzarella, marinara sauce, roasted garlic and dried oregano makes for a distinctive pie. BUT it's strictly for garlic lovers. Vampires and those hoping to snog later on the board walk should stay FAR AWAY. The decor leaves much to be desired. You don't get anything by eating in. It's also very crowded. I suggest grabbing your pizza and eating in on one of those benches overlooking the water.

Had a buffalo chicken pizza. It was awesome. Crust was crunchy and pizza was delicious. This place is clean and the people are really friendly. Pizzas are a little pricey but I think it's worth it. I will be coming back again another time.

Good pizza and salads in an area that good good is hard to come by. Our server, Jim, was awesome, attentive and hustled! Ask for him!!

Pizza is only fair We ordered two pizzas. A mushroom and an eggplant pizza. Difficult finding and tasting mushrooms or eggplant. For 45 dollars , u can do a lot better elsewhere.

If you like waiting, this is the place for you. Staff did not even know what was available to buy or what they were out of, and was even slightly rude. Meatball sub was 10 dollars for literally 1 cut up meatball, and took over half an hour. Typical scam type of beach scum "restaurant."

This place has sub par pizza. Good if you are really hungry but nothing too special. My biggest complaint is that I tried ordering their pizza "the village" but no mushrooms and they said they don't do that. So I tried building my own minus the mushrooms and it was over 20 dollars for 14" pizza. Not really worth it.

Yummy pizza. A little crowded in there, but we still enjoyed it.

We got to our hotel in York Beach around 5pm and was pretty dark. We aren't too familiar with the area, and in the off season, we were having a hard time finding somewhere for dinner. I looked to Yelp for help finding something open in the winter. We found woody's. Hungry and looking forward to some local charm we stepped inside and grabbed a few menus next to the register. No greeting from the girl behind the counter. We sat down to look them over. A few minutes later the girl behind the counter said "When you're ready you can come up to the counter to order." Did I mention that we were the only ones in there? I understand you're a casual pizza joint but what an impression you would've made coming over to our table and asking if we had any questions on the menu or asking what brings us in or even taking our order from the table?! The food is good but over priced. I ordered a veggie calzone and a fountain drink and it cost $16! 2 stars for this careless pizza joint and not returning.

We're in town renting one of the many houses for a couple days. We wanted some good, basic pizza. Woody's is an obvious choice because they're right in the middle of town, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality. We had what amounted to a 'meat lovers' 18" pizza and a veggie pizza, which were both excellent. The style is more like "New York" style - very thin crust, with a little crunch but mostly soft dough. Well apportioned. Service was a little slow (they said it'd be ready between 35 and 40 minutes from the time we called in, but it was closer to 55 minutes. But, that's what we get for ordering a pizza on a Friday night at 6pm. They were super-busy.

I'm spoiled when it comes to pizza, in my home town nothing beats our pizza den. So its hard to go out and find pizza as good as your use too. However their pizza was still good. My 4 year old ate 3 slices of a medium pepperoni. And i finished off a medium meatball. The crust was thin and crunchy, sauce was just right and the cheese maybe seemed a little raw. However i would take this pizza over many other more popular pizza places any day.

Pizza is just okay. My husband liked the crust, but I was overall unimpressed. We did have a great server, but for the price and end product, I doubt we'll ever return.

We had delivery with their new delivery system WWW.deliveryguys.biz and it worked out great! The pizza was yummy and garlic knots fantastic!

We got a small pepperoni pizza and Caesar salad on Saturday. The pizza was really good and with the salad it was just right. The salad was ok, not much cheese or dressing but there were plenty of anchovies which I love. Romaine was fresh and crisp. It was pricey - 23 bucks (also a pepsi included) I'll go back!

DISGUSTING. If anyone thinks this pizza is good, I feel sorry for them. They need to go to the grocery store and at least try an Ellios frozen pizza to have something to compare this to. First of all, they don't use a brick oven. It's a regular oven and they put a few bricks on the face of it. I got a "pepperoni slice" for $3.12. It was THE WORST PIZZA I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I know I gave a pizza place near me 1 star before. Now I feel I need to upgrade them to 5 stars in comparison to this place. The kitchen is manned by about 8 high school kids that look like the cast of Fast Times at Ridgemont High. They make the pizzas. This seems like an experiment in home economics class gone terribly wrong. The pizza is rock hard. I actually banged it against the table. You can hold it vertically by the crust. Someone needs to tell these kids how yeast works. Because they clearly have not figured it out. Red food coloring with oregano in it is NOT pizza sauce. It tasted like a Ellios frozen pizza with much less flavor. I would've gladly paid $5 for a slice of Ellios frozen pizza compared to this barely edible garbage. I would rather make love to Susan Boyle for one hour with Simon Cowell judging and the entire world watching than eat another slice of this pizza. Save your money, time and appetite for anything else.

This is great pizza. I have no idea what other reviewers are talking about with their 1 star ratings. I guess if you don't like a good sweet yet tangy sauce, crispy crust, and a wide variety of delicious toppings, then you will be out of luck coming here. Woody's blows Pizza by Parras (Short Sands beach's only other pizza place, which is now closed for who knows how long) out of the water. Yeah, the wait can be a little crazy at times, but that just speaks to how good the pizza is. We ordered a pizza for takeout and was told the wait would be about an hour, so we headed down to Inn on the Blues for a couple drinks (you could also pass time browsing the shops). We headed back after about 30 minutes and our pizza was ready. I think they just need to get used to the timing on their recommendations. But regardless, with so many other food options around Short Sands, it's telling how many people choose to wait for Woody's. The only reasons I'm not giving Woody's a 5 star rating is because their pizza is a wee bit on the pricey side, and they don't offer a buffalo chicken pizza. Small potatoes in the big scheme of things. If you're craving pizza while on vacation in York Beach, try Woody's. You won't regret it.

A bit expensive, but the pizza was pretty good. We had a sicilian-style pizza and a veggie pizza. Both were tasty with an excellent crust. Our salads were fresh, but otherwise unremarkable. For dinner you have to put your name in, as there's a 30-minute wait -- only a few tables inside.

We had visited once not too long after they first opened a couple years ago. We found it to be mediocre. Not bad, but not so good to spend above average money on the food. Well, we went back today and the food is well worth it now. The Italian sandwich was absolutely phenomenal. It's not thick, which I like, but, boy, is it tasty!?!?! They do not skimp with the fresh basil and they make sure they cover the sandwich with their dressing, which, by the way, tastes fantastic! They don't put too much on or too little. It's just enough. The pizza was perfectly cooked and had the right amount of toppings spread evenly. As a local, we have found a place we will crave to go back to more often now.

Sit inside and eat the pizza quick if you go there!! Don't expect to take it out and be able to bite into it when it cools. When they first opened we took out 4 pizzas when friends were over. We couldn't believe it! It got hard as a rock after about 1/2 hr and we seriously had to throw it all out. I had such high hopes when they opened because at the time there wasn't a decent piece of pizza in all of York. It's been a while and they seem fairly busy so I thought I'd try again. I went in for a piece. The girl asked if I wanted it on a plate or in a box. I said a plate and proceeded to find a place to sit. I was told I couldn't sit because pieces of pizza are just for take out. I told her to put the piece in a box so I could take it with me and also told her I'll never never be back! Just because I wasn't hungry enough for more at that moment I am still a paying customer. Also I noticed that the 3 empty tables had reserved signs on them. So I guess even people getting more pizza than me would be turned away to find a park bench to eat at - even though those tables were empty?!?! Never again!!

They serve some really excellent pizza here. Despite the brick oven name, this stuff is a lot more like a regular pizza joint than a froofy brick oven place. They have some cool square pepperoni there, but I enjoyed a plain slice between the ceremony and reception of a wedding.

Had a large pizza and a Caesar salad with the wife and kids. The caesar salad was one of the best I've ever had as was the pizza. The pepperoni are the biggest I've seen...they're the size of bologna slices. They have a really great menu and this was the second time I'd been there and it's definitely a must visit lunch spot at Short Sands.

We go to Woody's in the winter when the tourists are gone and always use a coupon because it is a bit pricey for the size of the pizzas. But, they pizzas are very delicious, cooked just right and we love them!

It's too bad. This place has a great opportunity to make a killing in York center (short sands). The only other show in town, Pizza by Paras, is closed down due to violations which leaves the new Woody's Brick Oven Pizzeria as the only show in town. I know how the food business works- so I will lay off a bit because it was the first weekend for Woody's. We showed up at like 6 and wanted a couple pizzas for takeout- and they told us the wait was one hour. FOR TAKEOUT!!!! unheard of. THe prices were wayyyy too expensive- obviously because most people up there are vacationers. 20 bucks for a large pizza margherita and 17 for a medium with peppers, onions and sausage. The pizza itself was nasty. The crust was tough. The margherita pizza was made with slices of tomatoes and no sauce!!!!! Cardinal sin in my opinion. Needless to say, we only had a couple of bites of this pizza (i brought the rest home and put some of my sauce on it at home). What can I say, 20 bucks for this pizza I am not wasting. I will say that the sauce on the medium pizza with peppers onions and sausage was pretty tasty. Also, the ingredients seem fresh. But all in all this place is overpriced, slow and not worth it. I am sticking to seafood when I make my weekend trips to York.

I'm so glad Woody's Brick Oven has opened up in the Short Sands area. We have been at a loss for good pizza here for a while. Pizza by Paras is terrible. I've gotten takeout from Woody's at least 3 times as well as sat down with my family for a slice for lunch. I think the pizza is great -- and usually I like thinner crust. (The crust is on the thin-to-medium size.) We usually get the cheesy bread for the kids. I think the prices are fine -- go to Bertucci's and you'll see similar or higher prices for this type of pizza. You can also order online which is great. The owners/staff have been very friendly when we've been there and I wish them much success!

Great pizza my kids love it. A little pricey to be expected but all in all a good solid pizza joint. Beat paras before it closed.
